Mid-century modern design is an aesthetic that takes its cues from the design movements of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. Characterized by clean lines, organic forms, and a focus on functionality, mid-century modern design has maintained a devoted following in recent years. 

While the style began to fall out of favor in the 1970s, it has undergone a renaissance in recent years, with designers and homeowners alike drawn to its timeless appeal. Mid-century modern furniture is often characterized by natural materials like wood and leather and its simple yet stylish silhouette. In terms of colors and patterns, mid-century modern design typically favors muted tones, geometric patterns, vibrant colors, and pairings of indoor and outdoor motifs. These elements combine to create a look that is both nostalgic and modern.

History of Mid Century Modern Design Style

The term “mid-century modern” was first coined by Cara Greenberg in 

her 1984 book Mid-Century Modern: Furniture of the 1950s.

Mid-century modern design is often seen as a reaction against the excesses of Victorian design and a response to the International and Bauhaus movements. Many of the most iconic mid-century modern designs are pieces of furniture, like the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman or the Noguchi coffee table. However, the style is also evident in architecture and product design.

MCM designers sought to create a new aesthetic suitable for the modern world, one that would be different from the ornate styles that were popular at the time. This style particularly became popular after World War II as people moved to urban areas with smaller living spaces and new materials and technologies became available. And because many of these pieces were mass-produced, they were simple, practical, beautiful, accessible, and affordable.

Common elements of mid-century modern design include:

-Eames Chairs: These iconic chairs are characterized by molded plastic seats and steel legs. Designed by the husband and wife team Charles and Ray Eames, they are considered one of the most influential pieces of furniture of the 20th century.

-Sofas: Mid-century modern sofas often have tufted upholstery and tapered wood legs. They tend to be relatively shallow in design, making them perfect for smaller spaces.

-Coffee tables: Mid-century coffee tables are typically made of wood or glass and feature simple, geometric shapes. Pair them with classic Eames chairs for a complete look.

-Lighting: Lighting:  an essential element of any design, but it takes on particular significance in mid-century modern homes. Pendant lights and floor lamps with sleek metal bases are common choices.

Searches for mid-century modern are up nearly 50% year-to-date 

(January to October 2021) – Yelp, 2022’s Home Trend Forecast Report. 

MCM has been one of the most enduring and popular styles of the last hundred years. However, it is much more than a fad – it is a style that is here to stay. And in 2022, as many people yearn for a return to simplicity in an increasingly fast-paced and technologically-driven world, this timeless aesthetic is more popular than ever.  

MCM design encapsulates the desire for uncomplicated living as people look to declutter and live more intentionally. The clean lines, organic materials, and focus on “fun and function” make this stripped-down aesthetic very appealing. Additionally, the resurgence of vintage trends (and shows like Mad Men) has also helped to make mid-century modern design more mainstream. As we continue through this decade, it seems likely that the popularity of mid-century modern design will continue to grow.

Characteristics of Mid Century Modern

1. Simple & Sleek:
   • Mid-century modern design is sleek and minimal, emphasizing functionality and simplicity. Chairs and tables often consist of a few simple pieces of material – think teak, plywood, or laminate – supported by wooden or metal legs. Upholstered pieces are likewise kept relatively simple, without too much frill or embellishment. This restraint allows the furniture to speak for itself and creates a refined, uncluttered, and calming look.
2. Mix & Match Materials:
   • One of the most distinctive features of mid-century modern design is mixed materials. Furniture from this period often incorporates both natural and manufactured materials, creating a unique aesthetic. Wood, glass, metal, and marble are commonly used alongside vinyl, plastic, lucite, and fiberglass. This combination of materials allows for various textures and patterns, adding visual interest to any room. 
3. Indoor & Outdoor:
   • An element of MCM design is the fusion of indoor and outdoor spaces. This aesthetic is achieved through the use, for example, of large windows, glass doors, and carved wood screens which allow natural light to flood into the home and create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. What is Slow Furniture?

Slow furniture is all about adding quality and long-lasting items rather than disposable decor to your home. Like the slow fashion movement, slow furniture rejects cheap, mass-produced, poor-quality goods. 

What is Fast Furniture?

Fast furniture is a term used to describe furniture that is designed to be quickly produced and consumed. It is often made from cheap materials that are not meant to last, and it is often mass-produced in factories using assembly-line techniques.

The Slow Furniture Movement

And although fast furniture products come with tempting, inexpensive price tags and offer instant gratification, they do not withstand the test of time – or the next design trend. Therefore, consumers are ditching these fast options and shopping purposefully for sustainable, environmentally friendly, and high-quality items. This is called the Slow Furniture Movement.  

So why not slow down and say goodbye to “fast” home furniture (and decor)? 

You don’t have to opt for one-click purchases from big box stores to cheaply and quickly fill your home with stuff. Instead, you can slowly decorate a home that’s uniquely you without sacrificing style, and you’ll get to put your money where your values are.

The Problem with Fast Food & Fast Fashion

• According to the EPA, consumers toss 9 million tons of furniture into landfills each year.  
• Most of the furniture in landfills was made within the last 10-15 years. 

It’s tempting to pull up to a McDonald’s drive-thru and order a combo meal when you’re hungry or buy mass-produced catwalk knockoffs to keep up with the latest fashion trends, but we typically regret these decisions. We know that healthy food options and clothing choices that won’t be banished to the back of the closet (or, worse, the bottom of a landfill) exist.

Still, fast food and fast fashion are cheap, easy, and quick alternatives. Unfortunately, we are similarly fooled by fast furniture. However, these trendy furnishings are short-lived solutions, designed to last years instead of decades or centuries.

They are also commonly made from cheap materials like particleboard and contain harsh chemicals like formaldehyde which are challenging to recycle. In fact, fast furniture is the least recycled household item and one of the fastest-growing landfill categories.  

Slow Design & Sustainable Furniture Resources:

The good news is that there are sustainable furniture resources to help you make informed, slow furniture purchases.

• The Sustainable Furnishings Council – (https://sustainablefurnishings.org/) provides many free materials, publishes The Wood Furniture Scorecard, and is part of the “what’s it made of” initiative.
• The Ellen MacArthur Foundation – (https://ellenmacarthurfoundation.org/) is a charity working to transition the world to a circular economy since 2010. (See circular economy blog post). This site has tons of information and resources.

 Look for these tags when you are shopping for furniture and decorative accessories:

• Cradle to Cradle® (C2C) – Products awarded this certification are produced in eco-friendly ways and can be recycled after use. C2C is the global standard for safe, circular, and responsibly made products.
• Fair Trade Certified™ – Products with this seal are made according to rigorous, social, environmental, and economic Faire Trade standards. The farmers, workers, and fishermen also earn additional money from purchases.  
• FSC (Forest Stewardship Council® )Certification – Products with this certification come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits. There are three types of FSC labels for FSC-certified products: FSC 100%, FSC MIX, and FSC RECYCLED.  
• GREENGUARD Certified – Products with this certification have low chemical emissions.  
• Rediscovered Wood Certification, Rainforest Alliance – Products awarded this certification use reclaimed wood.

Create a Slow Home

Finding and decorating with slow furniture requires a little patience. It is, by definition, a slow process that involves research, saving for high-quality (expensive) purchases, hunting for fabulous finds, and reusing and repurposing items. Yet this decorating pace should make decorating your home more enjoyable since there is no deadline. As a result, you can let your home’s interior evolve per your style rather than be tethered to trends. 

Questions to ask when making Slow Furniture Purchases:

When making slow furniture purchases, consider the following:

• Will the piece work in the space (or even fit through the front door)?
• Will you use the item (i.e., piano) or maintain it (i.e., glass top kitchen table)?
• Will you love the furniture piece in ten years, or will you want to replace it in a few months?
• Can you make purchases from local artists or sites like Etsy and support small businesses?
• Can you shop for furniture pieces at vintage stores, estate sales, flea markets, and online platforms like Facebook Marketplace, Craig’s List, and eBay?  
• Do you want to rent furniture from sites like Feather and Fernish?
• Do you want to borrow items from “people in your neighborhood” on sites like Peerby?
• Can you upcycle furniture pieces?  
• Can you donate items to organizations including The Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Habitat for Humanity ReStore?

What is the Color for Spring

Whether it’s the sparkling purple lilacs, vibrant yellow forsythias, breathtakingly blue hydrangeas, or rich pink rhododendrons, there is something genuinely magical about spring color palettes. As soon as the first signs of color appear, I know that warmer days are just around the corner. There’s nothing quite like the happiness that comes from seeing those first few spring blossoms. It reminds us that no matter how long winter may last, spring will always come eventually. And that’s something to look forward to every year.

Spring Color Combinations

Lilac Purple

• The lilac hex code is #C8A2C8
• Lilacs symbolize confidence and spirituality 
• The color lilac means being unconventional, outgoing, and sociable.  
• The color lilac was first recorded in England in 1755.

The short spring in New England is a reminder to enjoy the lilacs. With their unique, intoxicating fragrance, these pale purple flowers bloom for about two weeks between the end of April and May. There’s nothing better than walking by one of these hearty shrubs or adding a bouquet of these fragrant flowers to any room in your home. 

Lilacs are native to southeastern Europe and Asia, only introduced in the U.S. in the 17th century. However, this flower also has roots in Greek mythology. According to the myth, Pan, the god of fields and forests, fell in love with the nymph Syringa. She ultimately turned herself into a lilac shrub to escape Pan’s advances. Although Pan didn’t find Syringa, he did discover the shrub and made the first panpipe from some of its reeds. 

There are many lovely lilac color combinations you might use in your spring color palette. This serene, pastel shade pairs wonderfully with bright yellow, burn orange, royal blue, eggplant, fuchsia, and teal, and this hue works equally well with soft neutrals like white, gray, and taupe.  

Forsythia Yellow

• The forsythia hex code is #ffc801
• Forsythia symbolizes hope, spring, sun, and anticipation,
• The color yellow means happiness, warmth, sunshine, and caution.
• Yellow is one of the oldest colors, (An image of a horse colored with yellow in the cave of Lascaux is estimated to be 17,300 years old.)
• Yellow is the most visible color on the spectrum. 

Forsythia bushes look like giant balls of golden sunshine warming the landscape in early spring after a long winter. This iconic harbinger of spring boasts bursting blooms of delicate yellow flowers from mid-March to mid-April. Most importantly, these low-maintenance, fast-growing shrubs guarantee that you’ll enjoy this bright shade year after year. 

In New England, weather lore also states, “three snows after the forsythias bloom .” So after spotting these yellow flowers, it’s a warning not to swap the snow shovels for rakes. And having lived in New England for many years, I think this claim is more fact than folklore!  

Forsythia yellow can be matched with hues, including pink, purple, indigo, green, violet, pink, and brown. It is striking alongside blue, its complementary color on the color wheel, and white, black, and gray. Imagine the ways it can complement the other spring colors in your palette!

Hydrangea Blue

• The hydrangea hex code is #849bcc
• Hydrangeas symbolize apology, gratitude, forgiveness, and understanding.
• The color hydrangea blue (light blue) means health, healing, tranquility, understanding, and softness.
• Blue hydrangeas need to be grown in acidic soil (ph of 5.5 or lower).

Hydrangeas are the quintessential New England flower. These beautiful, blue blooms can be spotted bobbing over picket fences and lining sandy beach paths from early spring to late autumn Vases overflowing with the whimsical and elegant blossoms are, likewise, a seasonal-decorating staple. 

Check out The Cape Code Hydrangea Festival. This annual 10-day event in July benefits local charities and allows you to tour private gardens. You can also visit the Chatham Bars Inn, which has about 4,000 hydrangea bushes.  

Hortensia, which means “from the garden” in Latin, is another name for hydrangea. The French Botanist Philibert Commerson first used this term in 1771. He may have chosen to name the flower after a mistress, a female astronomer, or Hortense de Nassau, the daughter of Prince Nassau. 

Hydrangea blue looks great with yellow, pink, dark blue, purple, and green. Other options for your spring color palette include white, grey, and black. 

Rhododendron Pink (Fuchsia)

• The fuchsia hex code is #FF00FF
• Rhododendrons symbolize good vibes, positive energy, goodwill, love, and friendship. 
• The color fuchsia means uniqueness, confidence, dependability, and fun-loving. 
• Rhododendrons have been around since the dinosaurs – over 60 million years.
• The color fuchsia is named after the color of the flower of the fuchsia plant. French botanist Charles Plumer named the fuchsia plant in honor of 16th-century German botanist Leonard Fuchs.    

The rhododendron’s fragrant fuchsia flowers color the New England landscape from late March to late June. I’m always thankful for these brilliant blooms that burst even before the leaves appear on the trees. For me, it’s a gentle reminder from Mother Nature to be patient and know that all the spring and summer plants will appear in due time.   

Check out the Arnold Arboretum in Boston to see over 550 species of rhododendrons. The Arnold Arboretum is also the oldest in North America.   

The rhododendron commonly colled azalea, means rose tree in Greek. It is the national flower of Nepal and Switzerland, the state flower of West Virginia, and the official flower of Washington D.C. Some even believe that Rhode Island got its name when the Italian explorer Giovanni de Verrazzano saw these plants on the many islands off the state and was reminded of the Isle of Rhodes. But unfortunately, the true story is that Rhode Island was named “Roodt Eylandt” (Red Island) by Dutch explorer Adrain Block.  

This warm, purplish shade of pink pairs well with yellow, red, green, orange, blue, and turquoise. Likewise, this hue is a winning combination for your spring color palette with black, white, gray, and beige. 

Green Grass

• The grass hex code is #348C3. (There is a Green Grass hex code (#7CFC00), but I think it is too yellowish-green.
• Grass symbolizes connection, growth, health, and healing.
• The color green means nature, health, harmony, growth, prosperity, and energy.
• Green is a verb. Nowadays, there is lots of information on going green and living a greener life.
• Green is the fourth color of the rainbow.  
• Grasses make up about 26% of the plant life on earth.  
• The most popular species of grass in New England is Kentucky Bluegrass.

Green grass covering bucolic, rolling hillsides or suburban backyards means spring has sprung. And Mother Nature’s rollout of this green carpet immediately energizes the season. The many verdant views, after all, give the green light for activities from backyard cookouts to gardening.

The four grass species in New England are Kentucky Bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, fine fescue, and turf-type tall fescue. There is no Hungry Grass in New England, and that’s a good thing. This Irish myth claims that if you stand on a patch of Hungry Grass you will immediately become hungry and weary and may even die. 

Since green is at the center of the color wheel, it works with both warm and cool hues. Try it with everything on your spring color palette from yellow, red, orange, blue, purple, violet, and pink to neutrals.

Pantone Color of the Year

Pantone has been making a Pantone Color of the Year proclamation in early December since 2000. Such quotes can make you tightly clench a color wheel or paint fan deck as you agonize over a color palette. You may similarly go into paint choice paralysis, realizing that the human eye can detect about 10 million colors and paint companies offer thousands of color options. Color theory, our associations between colors and emotions, may also account for paint decision aversion.

But there’s no need to panic. I’ve compiled some tips and tricks below to help you choose color palettes. Try them, and then play, practice and repeat. Remember that there are no perfect ways to choose paint colors. It’s art, and it’s just paint, so have fun and get messy! 

5 W’s on How to Create Palette from Color

Let’s go over Who, What, When, Where, & Why

However, before we discuss color palettes, let’s take a detour and go back in time to elementary school. Do you remember teachers lecturing about the importance of including the 5 Ws in writing assignments? (I can still see Mrs. McIver standing at the front of the classroom in her very ’80s attire, teaching this topic as we students counted down the minutes until lunch.)

• Who is the project for? Is it for a man, woman, family, child, adult, business, or residence?
• What is the project? Is it artwork, painted furniture, or interior design? What are the client’s preferred colors, styles, and special requests?  
• When will the project be completed? The answer to this question can determine whether or not you will accept a project. For example, you may have projected booked out for several months, or the client might be on a tight deadline.   
• Where will the finished project be located? Is it a wall or an interior, exterior, residential or commercial space? How will light and other decorative elements in the space affect the project?
• Why are you doing the project? This question should probably be at the top of the list, and the first question asked. Having a solid understanding of why you and the client want to embark on a project sets the project up for success.

How to Create Your Own Color Palette: The Color Palette Basics

The Color Wheel 

The 12 basic colors of the color wheel can be divided into three categories:

• 3 Primary Colors: Red, Blue, and Yellow. (Primary Colors cannot be created by mixing other colors.)
• 3 Secondary Colors: Orange, Green, and Purple. (Secondary Colors are produced by combining two Primary Colors)
• 6 Tertiary Colors: Yellow-Orange, Red-Orange, Red-Purple, Blue-Purple, Blue-Green, and Yellow Green. (Tertiary Colors are produced by combing one Primary Color and one Secondary Color).

Tints, Shades, and Tones

You can change these 12 colors (AKA hues) by adding white, black, or black and white (gray). Adding white to a pure hue creates a tint (i.e., red + white = pink); adding back to a pure hue creates a shade (i.e., red + black = burgundy), and adding black and white (gray) to a pure hue creates a tone. 

Warm and Cool Tones

Colors can be grouped based on whether they have warm or cool undertones. Warm colors are the reds, oranges, and yellows, and cool colors are the blues, greens, and purples. I prefer to balance warm and cool tones since, for example, a room with too many cool tones can feel cold, while a room with too many warm tones can feel overpowering. 

Basic Color Schemes

The basic color schemes include Monochromatic, Analogous, Complimentary, Split-Complimentary, and Triad.

• Monochromatic – Different shades of the same hue (i.e., dark blue and light blue, purple and lavender). 
• Analogous – The main color and the colors from either side of it on the color wheel (i.e., blue, green-blue, and green). 
• Complimentary – Colors opposite each other on the color wheel (i.e., orange and blue, red and green, purple and yellow).
• Split Complimentary – One color and colors from either side of its compliment (i.e., red, yellow-green, and blue-green).
• Triad – Three colors from equidistant points on the color wheel (i.e., red, yellow, and blue, or green, violet, and orange).

Addition Color Palette Inspiration

If you are still baffled by color palettes, I recommend looking out your window or getting outside and finding inspiration from nature. These ever-changing color schemes designed by Mother Nature never disappoint. You can also hop on Pinterest or Instagram, find examples in artwork, photos, wallpaper, and fashion, and use color palette generators like Coolors, Adobe Color, Khroma, Paletton, and Color Space.

It often feels like there are only two seasons in New England – a much too long winter and a much too short summer. So as people stir from hibernation, the days get longer, temperatures rise, and flowers bloom, signaling that spring has sprung, I’m prepping for the lazy, hazy days of summer. The winter gear has been banished to the attic, and boxes labeled “summer’ are scattered around the house.  

This year, however, feels different. The pandemic and war in Ukraine rage on, and we are confronting supply chain problems, market disruptions, geopolitical tensions, and wartime atrocities. If you are anything like my family and me, you’ve been refreshing the feed on your news app yet doing everything possible to stop reading the headlines. Honestly, it’s a confusing world.

If you want a distraction from these unprecedented times, I recommend checking out sustainably inspired, beautifully designed summer products.

How can you block the suns rays with recycled plastic?

Along with the company’s other products, these chairs can be recycled at the end of their life, becoming part of the circular economy. The Minnesota-based company is also Cradle to Cradle Certified® and donates 1% of the gross annual sales of the Lollygagger Lounge Chair to charitable groups.

Can it be? The World’s First-Ever Recylced Hammock?

As the “world’s first-ever recycled hammock”, you could watch the sky from your Nakie on a summer day for hours. Each Nakie is made from 37 plastic bottles, weighs about 600 grams, can be set up in less than a minute, and comes with a lifetime warranty. The Australian-based brand additionally sponsors four trees to be planted in Madagascar with every Nakie sold. 

A Beach Towel Both Soft and Eco-Friendly?

Wrap yourself in a Green Petition Beach Towel when you get out of the ocean or the pool on a summer day, and you’ll know that you are contributing to a more sustainable future. These quick-drying towels are made in Turkey from recycled plastic bottles and leftover fabrics and contain no dyes or chemicals. Green Petition is a Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified company and donates 10% of its profit to non-profit organizations.

Looking for Socially Conscious Eyewear?

Sunglasses are synonymous with summer, and everyone has a favorite style, from aviator to wayfarer. However, Norton Point’s “socially conscious eyewear” is unique because the company was founded on Martha’s Vineyard in 2016 and makes glasses from recycled ocean plastics. The now Los Angeles-based company also pledges to remove one pound of plastic from the ocean for every pair of sunglasses sold and donates 5% of their net profits to global ocean clean-up, education, and remediation practices.

Lighting design is part science and part art form. It is an essential element in design, yet, we often overlook this decorative element in our everyday lives. For me, lighting is one of the first things I notice upon entering a space. And because lighting can have either a positive or negative impact, it’s important to make sure each room is adorned in a lighting style that suits its purpose. 

The proper lighting will illuminate a room, accentuating its best features, and create a joyful, welcoming space. Conversely, bad lighting can make large rooms look small, narrow, dark, and unwelcoming.  

Below are some tips to change a home’s bright space lighting per your design goals.  

Embrace Natural Light – Natural light is the cheapest lighting solution. Optimize its potential!

• Keep your hedges trimmed, bushes pruned, and other plants away from windows.
• Replace light-blocking window treatments with light-colored window panels or shades.
• Consider adding windows, skylights, and/or sliding glass doors where necessary.
• Add mirrors on walls opposite windows to reflect light and create space. Replace solid exterior doors with ones that have a window.
• Rethink your paint colors. Paint affects the amount of lighting required to illuminate a space optimally. Dark hues absorb light, while light colors reflect light more readily. 

Update Your Lightbulbs – Remember to keep the room’s ambiance in mind when choosing your bulbs.

• Use LED lights. LEDs are environmentally-friendly, and unlike other bulbs, they contain no mercury, can last up to 10 years, and have no glass or filaments.
• Use the brightest bulbs safely possible (750 lumens or more).

Keep lightbulbs clean. Use a soft dry cloth and ensure all electrical switches are off and bulbs are removed from their sockets before cleaning.  

Experiment with Lighting Styles – Combining various lighting styles can create a well-lit and memorable space. And beyond elevating the design, having many light sources rather than one light source in an area is a more energy and cost-efficient method.

• Use different types of lighting, including lanterns, orbs, sconces, flush mounts, table lamps, floor lamps, and chandeliers.
• Table lamps, floor lamps, and sconces work well in bedrooms. 
• Table lamps, floor lamps, and overhead lighting work best in living areas.
• Overhead lighting and wall-mounted sconces, above or on either side of a mirror, work best in bathrooms. 
• Under-cabinet lighting, pendants, and overhead lighting work best in kitchens.
• Use dimmers. Dimmers on overhead lights and lamps are a great option in any room because they allow you to change the lighting based on the time of day, activity, or mood in the space.
• Use 2-3 different light sources at different levels (low, medium, and high) throughout every room. This strategy disperses light best throughout your space and ensures it is always well-lit.

Accentuate the Lawn with Outdoor Lighting – Highlight your home’s curb appeal by creating a well-lit exterior.  

• Path lighting and/or tread lighting
• Sconce lighting near exterior doors and garages
• Uplighting for the trees and outdoor pendants enhances a property’s ambiance.

Consider the tone set by your current lighting and fixtures and whether it is accurate according to your space. For example, do the areas need to feel more relaxed, welcoming, or energetic? If so, consider lighting changes that will help you achieve each goal.

My favorite beautiful, eco-friendly and sustainable lighting options are listed below. 

​​Bicycle Glass Co: “Bicycle Glass started with the simple idea: use our community’s recycled glass to make beautiful, sustainable, and economical lighting.”  

Founded by David Royce and Michael Boyd, this Minnesota-based company offers sustainable lighting solutions. Each piece is hand-blown, made with locally sourced, 100% post-consumer recycled and recyclable glass, and comes with LED lights.

Danielle Trofe: “All the lamps are GROWN, not manufactured from mushrooms.”  

In collaboration with Ecovative, Danielle Trofe grows lampshades using agricultural byproducts (i.e., seed husks and corn stalks) and mushroom mycelium. And since the MushLume Lighting Collection is fully biodegradable, you can toss these lampshades in your backyard compost rather than the local landfill.

LZF: “At LZF, we combine traditional knowledge, handmade by expert craftsmen, with technology and research.”

LZF lamps are handmade in Valencia, Spain, with FSC certified natural wood veneer. This eco-friendly material is also treated with a technique patented by LZF, called Timberlite©, making it flexible and resistant without any chemical processes. 

Biohm: “Nothing is ever-lasting. Everything is ever-changing. We do not design. We refine what nature has given us.”

This London-based startup has created a lampshade called Obscure made of 100% coffee chaff from local coffee roasters or orange peels from local juice manufacturers. Available in three sizes, these handmade shades are cold compostable and toxin-free.
