This antique Governor Winthrop Drop Front Secretary Desk is made of solid wood. It has hand-cut dovetail joinery, ball and claw feet, a serpentine front, and the original key. You can use this vintage piece to write letters in a quiet nook or beautifully store items in a bathroom, living room, dining room, office, or bathroom.
Measuring 32.5″L x 17″W x 41″H, this hand-painted, 4-drawer desk is painted in various eco-friendly, clay-based paints including black, chartreuse, purple, and turquoise. Small inner storage compartments – cubbies and drawers – are revealed when the hinged writing surface is dropped down.
Now that we are working more from home, the secretary desk is becoming a popular, multi-functional furniture piece. For example, if you are having a dinner party, you can close the drop front, and it becomes a beautiful case piece. Then, after the guests have left, you can drop the leaf, pull up a chair, and start working in your home office.
